Most csv's have " around every field or at the very least around the text fields, your extension should remove those, but it does not. The " are used normally to specify the start and end of the column of data in the csv, that way if a column of data has one of the column delimiters within the data it will not trigger the import to move to the next column.
Example data to import:
1,234,567,"Bob","Smith","123 Airport Road, Newland, Oregon 55000"
in that above row the whole address would still get put in one column, your import would attempt to put "123 airport road in a column, newland in the next column, and oregon 55000" in the next column, but if I was working with a 6 column table I am guessing the import would fail or error out.
also in the database I get data in a column like "bob" instead of just bob in the column. You need to add an option for field enclosure kinda like what you have for date, that will get stripped out during import.
I have a similiar extension to yours from InterAkt (but it is no longer developed since they were acquired by adobe and it was not very fast) when you set up the csv settings in theres they have a drop down with label "Fields enclosed by:" then the drop down has options for " and ' I hope this makes sense. If you need more info email me and I can send you some examples.
This is a great extension but it will not work for me this way as I can not use it on the csv I need to import and I have no control over the csv.
